WINTER FROST PRECAUTIONSNormally this will be dealt with by Martin Wilson (contact details –see above)
Draining the system after a few nights of hard frost:
1. Turn off the main stop valve – under the hinged plate in the drive, situated near the hall entrance. Use the wooden device for this (kept in the Gents toilet area). Please do not do this too tightly – to do so risks the valve bonnet removal when the valve is opened! It is suggested that you leave a tap running inside and listen for the water flow to stop.
2. Flush all the toilets and the Gents urinal. Open all basin and sink taps.
3. Lift small trap in the hall floor (at the left of the wall 7’ from the stage). Open the drain valve (at the end of the locating string).
4. Open the drain cock at floor directly below the gents wash basin.
To turn the water on again, reverse these procedures.
i.e close under-floor drain valve in the hall and the drain valve in the gents toilet. Close the sink and basin taps. Finally open main stop valve in the drive - half turn only – listen for the water flowing back into the toilet cisterns.
